Geoff Gallop

Professor Geoff Gallop is a graduate of The University of Western Australia, Oxford and Murdoch Universities. From 1986 to 2006 he was a member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly. From 1990 to 1993 he was a minister in the Lawrence Labor government, leader of the Opposition from 1996 to 2001 and premier of Western Australia from 2001 to 2006. After retiring from politics Geoff was appointed Professor and Director of the Graduate School of Government, at The University of Sydney, a position he still holds. In 2008 he was made a companion of the Order of Australia. In 2012 he published Politics, Society, Self: occasional writings and was elected chair of the Australian Republican Movement.
